Hobbit: You! Mr. Bilbo where’re you off to?
Bilbo Baggins: I’m already late.
Hobbit: Late for what?
Bilbo Baggins: I’m going on an adventure.
To hell with New Year resolutions. Goodbye to the shackles of convention. I’m bursting free in 2015.
This coming year will be all about new horizons and more adventure. If there is a risk; a foot path leading off the main road, I am going to take it. In 2015 I hope to find my own misty mountains.
Warren and I want to go travelling. One of our destinations will be Haida Gwaii (also known as the Queen Charlotte Islands).
At this early point in the planning stage we are considering renting out our house. This will hopefully give us the necessary freedom to take our time.
I want this trip to be different from all of our other holidays. I don’t want to worry about tomato plants or cutting grass. I’m prepared to cut ties.
I can imagine myself striding out on a shaded logging road; the only sound around me will be chick-a-dees. I will rest on mossy logs and just listen to myself breath.
I want to stand tall on a deserted beach and feel the forceful wind push against my chest.
These are my goals for 2015. Happy New Year to you all.
Sounds like a plan! Wishing you all the best on your journey and may the road rise up to meet you. 🙂
We love adventures like this only Tim wants to go to Alaska and the NWT. We’ll see! That means summer for sure. Renting our house in the most beautiful and fun season in Northumberland County….not so sure about that! How long do you figure you’d be away for?
Ah…that is the thing. I don’t want to commit to a time we must return. Just for once in my life I want to feel free to follow our whims and keeping all options open. After Haida Gwaii on to Alaska – why not?, visit Kamloops – sure; Washington state …..
Love your plan for adventure! Just go for it. How lucky you are to be able to plan, dream and actually experience something like this…..if you and Warren can, well, then you must and there will absolutely be no regrets. Once you loose people you love and once you’ve been touched by cancer …..life changes forever and we must move forward in a much more alive and meaningful way. That’s just how it is, Diane. Love your blogs!
