Just eggs, please

Warren believes he loves puff-balls.  Years ago he found a puff-ball in the woods at the lodge where we were vacationing.  He convinced the kitchen to fry it up with lots of butter.  It was served in the dining room with  lots of drama.  Every summer since, we listen to him go on and on about how delicious these mushrooms are.

Wouldn’t you know it.  We have lots of them growing around here.  I carried one home yesterday and it was left on our kitchen counter, in preparation to an amazing breakfast this morning.

Twelve hours later, just as I was about to make the coffee, I noticed lots of “sawdust” on the counter…. except that it was wiggling.   OH GROSS!!!  Warren’s puff-ball had hundreds of little maggots squirming under it.  They were crawling all over my kitchen counter.    Hold the coffee…. I’m out of here.

Me –  “Clean this up and get that thing out of here”.

Maybe his taste will change after seeing that sight.

“Just eggs for me please, dear.”  “Hold the spores”
