Inspired!

Yes,  I went to the art workshop, and yes, it was wonderful.  The class was held outdoors at the Sandbanks Estate Winery.  They have a covered patio area right next to their tasting room.  The weather was perfect.  The surrounding scenery: grapes growing on the vines and the blue of Lake Ontario in the distance, was simply beautiful.  I met several pleasant fellow students and we exchanged contact information.  They are looking for a group or class to paint with, as well.

Rita Thivierge, our instructor and the artist in residence at Sandbanks estate Winery was truly inspirational.  She has a real eye for colour and her abstract landscapes have movement and energy.  Oh,  I wish I could paint like that.  The workshop provided all of our materials ie canvas, paint, brushes, even smocks.  For an hour and a half we experimented using Rita’s style.  It was fun.  She even brought out wine for all of us.  Total cost to experience this delight….. $15.00.   Amazing eh?  They are holding another class tomorrow.

I drove home with my still wet painting in the back seat.  I definitely feel inspired and motivated to try this again – soon.

  1. That sounds like a great creative day. I always wished I had some talent for painting, but I’m best when drawing stick people.

Lots of fun getting those artistic talents flowing, maybe you should consider a photography class also, your photos & subjects are wonderful Diane. And such a deal – only $15.00 for an art class. Have fun.

    • Funny you should mention a photography class because I have signed up “Basic Digital Camera”.  Two evening in late Sept/ early October.  The instructor will be Peggy deWitt.  We have one of her books here.  Finally I will learn about the different camera settings, ISO, modes, etc.  I’m looking forward to that…. but again because I will be going by myself, I will be nervous.

I love your courage. I also love your art. I am your absolute biggest fan. Please continue to paint. I want to buy more of your art. I love that you are an artist and you should value that side of yourself more. You are truly gifted. You are a great photographer too. Just love the photos in your blog.

I would love to hear your thoughts. I really, really love comments.
