Nervous excitment bordering on regret

I like to paint.  Watercolour is my usual medium but I have tried oil and acrylic.  I have been painting all my life; on and off sporadically.  I have no great talent,  I just enjoy playing with the paint; combining colours, watching the paint merge and seep onto itself. I also really enjoy the comradery with fellow artists. I squeak and complain that my painting is not working out and they offer me help and encouragement.  It makes for a pleasant afternoon.  For this reason, I do most of my painting with others via courses and workshops. It forces me out there to keep trying.

This weekend I have signed up for a short workshop over at the Sandbanks Estate Winery.  It is with their artist in residence, Rita Thivierge.  She has beautiful work.  It is vibrant and alive with bright colours.   This is not my style, but again,  I hope to push myself into trying something new.  Please wish me luck.  It is a scary thing to put yourself out there.

That’s great! I was thinking of you when we were camping and watching the waves and water. It made me think of the artist you worked with when at CH. Catherine and her gang at Sandbanks are amazing and Rita’s work is beautiful on display! We are hoping to make it back out for one of the harvest dates and we’ll see if they commission you for a piece 😉 Eat, drink, paint and be merry!

Its a wonderful idea – you will enjoy it. Can’t wait to attend your 1st art exhibit.

  3. Enjoy! My mom paints too and has occasionally taken workshops out in your area, though I don’t know where. Wouldn’t it be funny if you’ve met before?

Your self-portraits are caricatures. Too cute! You are a blast. I love your sense of humour.

I would love to hear your thoughts. I really, really love comments.
