The magical princess and the beautiful gypsy

This week has been awesome.  We had very special guests.  Marilyn has been my dearest friend for some 55 plus years.  We grew up next door to each other and have been playing together since we were both toddlers.   Marilyn lives quite a distance away.  We usually don’t see each other for more than 2 or 3 times in any year, although we phone/text each other several times every week.

I was excited to show Marilyn my new world:  my house and the County.   As an added bonus, she brought along her talented husband who agreed to refinish our pine floors.  This is what Paul does for a living and he is very good at it.  While Paul sanded and coated my old floors all week, Marilyn and I acted like princesses.  We slept in, ate appetizers, drank the local wine, shopped for new clothes and talked, talked, talked.   It was wonderful to see her.

As kids, one of our favourite activities was to play dress up. We had a large assortment of cast offs such as our mother’s long skirts, old jewellery, and  scarves.   We thought we looked beautiful as we pretended to be princesses or movie stars.   The magical princess and the gypsy    In this photo, I am probably a magical princess.  Note my wand.  Marilyn is probably in the role of a beautiful gypsy.  Nice head scarf!    We would spend countless days in costume, whirling around our backyards.

Oh well.  The week is now up.   Paul has created beautiful floors, both upstairs and down.  The house is almost ready to move into.

Thank you Paul.  I really appreciate your hard work and talent. Thank you for agreeing to come all of this way.  Please bring Marilyn back again soon.
